We May Never Leave

Savannah.jpg
We awoke here in Savannah to a box of fresh Krispy Kreem Donuts and the Savannah Morning News. Chis didn't wait very long before he tucked in.

N32 W81 Savannah, Georgia

An uneventful, but L O N G trip to Savannah. We saw plenty of Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, and Chis says he is certain he saw two of them making little dolphins. We plan to stay for a few days and explore.

We are sunburnt, windblown, smelly and sleepy. Another 14-hour day at sea!

Savannah's city plan is distinguished from other southern towns by its repeated pattern of multiple squares and streets. These are designed as a defense against attacks from the riverfront. The squares allow for more open space than any other city in history.

Savannah was founded in 1733 on a 40-foot bluff overlooking the Savannah River, 18 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean.
